Summer Adventures: Time Travelers Session 2

Connecticut Historical Society Museum and Library
1 Elizabeth St 06105 Hartford United States
Put on your time travel hat and learn what it was like to be a kid a long time ago! Through hands-on activities, crafts, and gallery visits to our Growing Up in Connecticut exhibit, we’ll explore children’s lives in Connecticut in the late 1800s and early 1900s. We’ll look at what has what has changed, like clothing, chores, school, and toys, and what has stayed the same for Connecticut kids in the past two hundred years.

This August, summer takes a different twist with two engaging and creative programs at the Connecticut Historical Society. In the two-day Time Travelers events, which take place 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. August 16 and 18 or August 23 and 25, children age 5-6 will be able to “visit” Connecticut from the 1600s - 1900s to experience how kids spent their day. The sessions include time exploring the “Making Connecticut” or “Growing up in Connecticut” exhibit. The five-day History Detectives events, which take place 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. August 15-19 or August 22-26, allow children age 7-12 to investigate some of the greatest stories, legends, mysteries, inventions and innovations of Connecticut’s past. Each Time Travelers session costs $60 for CHS members or $80 for non-members and each History Detectives session costs $150 for members and $200 for non-members. Registration for all sessions is taking place now through July 15. For full descriptions and registration forms, please visit www.CHS.org or call (860) 236-5621.
